Winston Churchills birthplace mansion could be an interesting rental proposal
The birthplace of Winston Churchill is a historic mansion called Woodstock House located in Oxfordshire and it boasts ‘the finest view in England’ according to Jennie Jerome, Churchill’s mother. Many would agree with this statement because Woodstock House looks over the Blenheim Palace estate which contains a lake, parkland and the Vanburgh Bridge which is said to be the finest bridge in England.
The mansion is three stories high and now 300 years old as it dates back to the early 18th century and is set within the 2000 acre Blenheim Estate as the largest private residence. The inside of the property has four reception rooms, a grand hall, eight bedrooms, cellars, a kitchen and a coach house with stable block along with many other outbuildings. The property has planning consent for the conversion of the stable block into a residential cottage.
Now, you must be wondering how much this historic and grand mansion is worth? Well, if you owned the lease, you would be able to rent this property out for £25,000 a month according to experts but not before having to spend an estimated £3million on repairs. However, this still doesn’t answer the question as to how much the price tag for the properties lease... Well, the buyer can own the 20 year lease completely free of charge as long as they commit to renovating the property to its former state.
Are you still interested? If so, the property is set within 3.5 acres of garden including a vegetable garden which is partially walled. The property still contains its original 12 pane sash windows, original panelled doors, galleried staircase hall, flagstone flooring and a Regency Doric style entrance porch. Blenheim Palace was the ancestral home of the Dukes of Malborough and is the only non-Royal residence in the country which holds the title of palace. It was built in the early 1700s and Winston Churchill was born inside the palace on the 30th November 1874 and within the gardens of Woodstock House is where he proposed to Clementine Hozier back in 1908.
